To mark the International Year of Biodiversity, Maltapost is issuing a philatelic commemorative set of four stamps on Thursday.

The stamps, designed by Maurice Tanti Burlò, depict four species of flora and fauna typical of the Maltese islands: the Maltese wall lizard, the storm petrel, the Maltese pyramidal orchid and the freshwater crab (qabru).

Some 500,000 stamps valued at 19c will be issued, along with 68c, 86c and €1.40-value stamps, of which 50,000 each will be issued.

They will be available from all Maltapost branches in Malta and Gozo and from the Maltapost Mobile Van.

Call the Philatelic Bureau on 2596 1747, e-mail philately@maltapost.com or visit www.maltapost.com for more information.
