Dom Mintoff, former Prime Minister and Labour leader, was still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at Mater Dei Hospital’s Critical Coronary Care Unit, the government said.

His medical condition remains stable.

Mr Mintoff was readmitted to Mater Dei at midnight on November 8, suffering from heart failure and dehydration. Although initial reports were worrying, the ex-Prime Minister gradually showed some signs of recovery.

This is the second acute hospital admission for the 94-year-old in under two months. He was admitted on September 16 in a confused state after suffering a light stroke. He was also treated for suspected pneumonia.
