The Qormi Local Council 10k, was held on Sunday. Despite the race being held so soon after the GSSE, the number of athletes on the starting line was encouraging. Funds will be passed on to a disabled person to purchase a wheelchair.

Runners from St Patrick's were at the forefront. Their top runner, Jonathan Balzan, was the overall winner. He finished in 33:17 to better his performance last year by 45 seconds.

Balzan was followed home by Vincent Ghigo (34:04), Joseph Abdilla (34:12) and Simon Camilleri (34:14).

Cecilia Fenech, also of St Patrick's AC, was the first female runner home in 39:11. She was followed by Angela Sammut, 40:04.

Meanwhile, the annual Birzebbuga 10K will be held in July. Applications and information are available from Wally Galea's souvenir shop in Valletta or by phoning 21-499535.
