Restaurant owners at St Julian's have protested to the Police Commissioner and the Tourism Ministry about plans for the installation of two outdoor big screens for the World Cup.

The screens are to be set up at the former Tiguglio car park and at Xatt Is-Sajjieda.

The shop owners have also written to the minister of home affairs.

They claim that the screens attract football 'maniacs' but drive away patrons.

Similar protests two years ago during the European Cup had led to a big screen being re-sited.
