Campbell: Arsenal central defender Sol Campbell will miss the Champions League knockout round game at Bayern Munich yesterday due to an ankle injury. Manager Arsene Wenger said that Campbell was also one of several players who would not play in today's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Sheffield United at Highbury. Cole and Brazilian midfielder Edu are ruled out of the FA Cup tie due to flu and a hamstring injury respectively. Henry, who has a minor Achilles tendon problem, and captain Patrick Vieira are expected to be rested. Fredrik Ljungberg returns after being rested for Monday's 5-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace, and Dutch striker Dennis Bergkamp, who misses the game in Munich due to his fear of flying, is likely to start.

Romario: Former World Cup striker Romario was called up by Brazil again on Thursday - for a beach soccer tournament. The 39-year-old, who is still playing for Vasco da Gama, was included in the squad for a Beach Soccer World Cup qualifying tournament in Rio de Janeiro next month. It was not immediately clear how Romario would fit in the tournament with his club commitments.

Djorkaeff: Former French international forward Youri Djorkaeff resumed his career yesterday when he signed for the MetroStars of the MLS. Djorkaeff, who turns 37 next month, was released last month by Blackburn Rovers of the English Premier League after making just three appearances for the club, the last of which was against Chelsea last October. The MetroStars open their tenth Major League Soccer season on April 2 when they host expansion club Real Salt Lake.

World Record: Russian Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva set a world women's indoor pole vault record of 4.88 metres at the Birmingham International Indoor Meeting yesterday. Isinbayeva set the previous mark of 4.87 in Donetsk, Ukraine, last Saturday.

Snooker: Jimmy White won another spectacular 6-5 thriller at the Wembley Masters yesterday and is now just one win away from the final. The Whirlwind's legions of supporters were put through the full range of emotions in a remarkable encounter against Mark Williams, but they emerged from Wembley Conference Centre jubilant as White booked a semi-final spot against Ronnie O'Sullivan or Ding Junhui today.
