Nedved: Juventus' midfielder Pavel Nedved is almost certain to miss his club's Champions League second leg match with Real Madrid. The Czech international has been in a clinic since suffering concussion in Juve's 1-0 first leg defeat to Real in Madrid on Tuesday, when he clashed heads with Spanish defender Raul Bravo. Juventus yesterday said that after undergoing tests Nedved was released from the clinic but needed seven days of rest at home.

Racism: Spanish authorities should back up their words with action if they are serious about dealing with racism in football says Osasuna striker Richard Morales. "They talk a lot, but do nothing," the Uruguayan international was quoted as saying. "I think you have to take a harder line against each and every one of the people who are shouting at us because of the colour of our skin. We, and especially our families, are suffering."

Late nights out: Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock have suspended midfielder Rene Rydlewicz, 31, after he failed to explain why he had stayed out until 6 a.m. before two league matches in May last year. The club, who are bottom of the Bundesliga and are still winless at home, said that Rydlewicz had been suspended until further notice. A club spokesman said yesterday the Rostock board had only became aware of the incident last week after a tip-off.

Pires: Robert Pires has joined a growing list of injured and suspended Arsenal players and will miss their Champions League match against Bayern Munich at Highbury next week, manager Arsene Wenger said yesterday. The French winger, victim of a lunge that earned Southampton's David Prutton a red card in the teams' 1-1 draw on Saturday, will be out for up to three weeks with a sprained ankle.

Prutton: Southampton midfielder David Prutton was charged yesterday with two counts of improper conduct following his red card against Arsenal on Saturday, the Football Association (FA) said. Prutton was charged for his failure to leave the pitch promptly after being sent off and trying to remonstrate with the linesman while pushing the referee, the FA said on its official website. The England under-21 international was also charged for using "threatening words and/or behaviour" towards a match official.

Waseige: Former Belgium coach Robert Waseige has been appointed new coach of FC Brussels, the struggling Belgian first division club said yesterday. FC Brussels, who are bottom of the league, sacked Emilio Ferrera on February 19 before winning their match the following day against Germinal Beerschot. Waseige was the coach of Belgium at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup. After the World Cup, he has coached Standard Liege, Charleroi and most recently the Algerian national team.
