Bayern: Newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have sealed a deal to sign Asian Player of the Year Ali Karimi next season. The Iranian international midfielder will join on a one-year contract with an option for a further year. The 26-year-old Karimi moves from United Arab Emirates club Al Ahli on a free transfer.
Trezeguet: France striker David Trezeguet has been banned for two matches by FIFA for head-butting an opponent during last month's 1-1 draw against Israel in a World Cup qualifier. Trezeguet will miss the Group Four qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and in Ireland on September 3 and 7.
Edmilson: Brazil defender Edmilson has returned to training with the Barcelona first team squad seven months after suffering a serious knee ligament injury. The 28-year-old has not played since tearing the cruciate ligament in his right knee last October.
Cologne: FC Cologne will make an immediate return to the German first division after a 2-1 win away to Erzgebirge Aue sealed their promotion from division two. Monday's victory guaranteed Cologne a top-three place with three games left to play. Second-placed Duisburg need two points from their remaining three games to be certain of joining them in the top flight next season.
FIFA fine: Belgium have been fined $10,000 by FIFA after crowd problems during last month's World Cup qualifier against Bosnia. Fireworks were thrown on to the pitch during the Brussels match which Belgium won 4-1 on March 26.
