Invincible Season: Captain John Terry says Chelsea can match Arsenal's feat of going unbeaten for an entire campaign in their Premier League title defence next season. Arsenal last season became the first club to go unbeaten in the English top flight since Preston North End's "Invincibles" won the inaugural Football League in 1888-89. Terry, whose team have wrested the title from Arsenal with only one defeat to date, said: "Our aim next season has to be to go through the season without losing in the league at all. Arsenal showed last season that it can be done. They did it, so why can't we? None of us see any reason why we shouldn't be able to do that."

Old Trafford Casino: Premier League club Manchester United are applying to build a new casino complex, including a five-star hotel, restaurants and a health club, near to their Old Trafford stadium. The club said yesterday it was making the bid in partnership with hotel and gaming company Las Vegas Sands Corp but its plans depend on receiving a casino licence.

Troussier: Olympique Marseille coach Philippe Troussier dismissed speculation he is about to leave the club following a series of poor results. "I will not give up. I will stand and face up to my responsibilities," Troussier said. The former Japan coach said he had the support of the club's major shareholder, Robert-Louis Dreyfus. "He told me I had to close ranks. He is supporting me as he has always done," he said. Marseille lost hope of securing a Champions League berth next season when they slumped to a 3-2 shock home defeat to struggling Caen on Saturday.

Hearts: Hearts manager John Robertson left the Scottish Premier League club on Monday after being offered a training ground coaching role. Robertson, who scored more goals for Hearts than any other player, was offered the new role five months after being appointed as manager. Hearts are fifth in the Scottish Premier League, 39 points behind leaders Celtic.

Duisburg Promoted: MSV Duisburg will return to the German first division next season after sealing promotion with a 1-0 win away to rivals Eintracht Frankfurt. Duisburg's victory on Monday took them top of the second division ahead of FC Cologne, who secured their promotion last week.Frankfurt remain in the third and final promotion place but now have just a one-point cushion over 1860 Munich in fourth, with two games left.

Banned One Year: Costa Rica striker Froylan Ledezma has been banned for one year for abandoning the national team before the World Cup qualifier away to Trinidad & Tobogo. The ban will affect Ledezma at both international level and with his club Alajuelense. The tribunal found Ledezma guilty of walking out on the team without the permission of coach Jorge Luis Pinto.
