Fenerbahce champions: Fenerbahce clinched the Turkish title for the 16th time yesterday, beating Galatasaray to retain a trophy which they rarely looked like losing to their main Istanbul rivals this season. In a highly charged match at the club's Sukru Saracoglu stadium, Fenerbahce defeated the only other title contenders with a 65th minute header from Brazilian striker Marcio Nobre. With one game still to play, Fenerbahce advanced to 80 points while Galatasaray remain on 73 points. They dropped to third and one point behind Trabzonspor who beat Samsunspor 3-0.

Bergkamp: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is planning to offer 36-year-old forward Dennis Bergkamp a new one-year contract. The Dutchman has a rolling one-year deal which is about to expire. Asked about his future after Bergkamp played in Saturday's FA Cup final win over Manchester United, Wenger said:" At the beginning of the week we'll sort it out - but he should stay for one more year."

Heinze: Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze, who watched Saturday's FA Cup final defeat from the stands because of an ankle injury, is confident he will be fit for Argentina's World Cup qualifiers next month. "Yes, I'll make it," Heinze said. He said the injury, sustained against Newcastle United on April 24, was worse than he first thought. "When I fell I damaged three ligaments so that meant two months recovery but I'm almost there now," Heinze said.

Neville: Manchester United defender Gary Neville has withdrawn from the England squad to travel to the US for a two-match tour. Neville missed Saturday's FA Cup final defeat by Arsenal with a groin injury and will be replaced by uncapped Charlton Athletic player Luke Young. England play the United States in Chicago next Saturday, followed by a clash with Colombia the following Tuesday at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey.
