Mifsud: Malta international Michael Mifsud scored one goal and fellow striker Arild Sundgot added two others as Lillestrom beat lowly Aaelsund 3-0 yesterday to move third in the Norwegian Division One championship. Mifsud opened the score in the 13th minute. Sundgot made sure of the points with strikes in the 59th and 81st minutes. Lillestrom have 17 points from ten matches, four behind leaders IK Start.

CSKA Sofia: Morocco international Murad Hdioued is set to sign a three-year contract that will take him from Bulgarian first division club Litex Lovech to champions CSKA Sofia. The 28-year-old midfielder, who is now at a training camp in Morocco before their World Cup qualifier in Kenya next Saturday, will complete a transfer worth €300,000 later this month.

New coach: Azerbaijan have promoted the coach of their U-21 team Vagif Sadykov to head the national team in place of Brazil's Carlos Alberto Torres who was sacked last week. The national soccer federation's executive committee decided late on Saturday that Sadykov would coach the team for the remaining three games of the qualifying campaign - against Northern Ireland and Austria in September and Wales in October.

Kuranyi: Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi will move to Schalke 04 from VfB Stuttgart on a five-year contract, the 23-year-old was quoted as saying yesterday. "I have signed a five-year contract with Schalke and am very happy about joining the club," Kuranyi told Bild am Sonntag newspaper in an interview. Stuttgart would receive seven million euros from the deal, Bild am Sonntag reported. Kuranyi had been at Stuttgart since 1997.

In Ukraine: Shakhtar Donetsk secured the Ukrainian league title with a game to spare yesterday after a 3-1 victory over Chernomorets Odessa. The team from eastern Ukraine won their first title in 2002 and have finished runners-up eight times since the championship was founded in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Last season's champions Dynamo Kiev defeated Zakarpattya Uzhgorod 3-0 to secure second place.
