Higuain: Real Madrid's Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain will be out for up to three weeks with a torn thigh muscle, the Spanish champions said. He will miss both legs of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla and is a doubt for the opening match of the Primera Liga season against city rivals Atletico on the weekend Aug 25/26.

Diawara: Charlton Athletic centre back Souleymane Diawara is to join Girondins Bordeaux on a four-year deal. The 28-year-old Diawara joined Charlton from Sochaux in August 2006, playing 22 Premier League matches as the club were relegated at the end of the season.

Baiano: Promoted Real Murcia have signed Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano from relegated Celta Vigo on a four-year contract. Spanish media reported the deal was worth around 4.5 million euros for the 28-year-old, who top scored for Celta with 15 league goals last season.

Filkor: Hungary coach Peter Varhidi has named 19-year-old playmaker Attila Filkor in a 25-man squad for a friendly international against Italy in Budapest on Aug. 22. Filkor, who joined the Italian club from Pietà Hotspurs, has recently become a regular squad member with Inter.

Cameroon: Artur Jorge, who quit as Cameroon coach after the 2006 African Nations Cup, has been shortlisted to return to the job for next year's tournament. Jorge was one of five coaches shortlisted by a commission set up by the central African country's sports ministry and soccer federation FECAFOOT, an aide to FECAFOOT president Mohamed Iya said.

Valentino Rossi: Italy's tax agency is investigating former world motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi for suspected tax evasion. The agency was examining possible tax evasion on undeclared revenues of 60 million euros ($82.61 million) from 2000 to 2004. The investigation is linked to Rossi's decision in 2000 to take up residence in Britain to take advantage of favourable tax conditions.
