World 5,000 metres champion Eliud Kipchoge may miss selection for the Helsinki world championships in August after a clash with Kenyan officials who insist he must run the event at the national trials. Kipchoge, who is allowed to defend his title whether or not he competes in the trials, said this week he would run the 1,500 only tomorrow. However, Athletics Kenya secretary general David Okeyo said Kipchoge had to run in the 5,000 if he wished to travel to Finland. "He has to run in his specialty if he hopes to defend his title in Helsinki," Okeyo said.
