Confederations Cup: Lubos Michel of Slovakia will referee next Wednesday's Confederations Cup final in Frankfurt, FIFA announced yesterday. Michel, 37, officiated at the Brazil vs Greece match and the match between Argentina and Germany earlier in the competition. Carlos Chandia of Chile will referee today's semi-final between Germany and Brazil in Nuremberg. Italian Roberto Rosetti will be in charge of the other semi between Mexico and Argentina in Hanover tomorrow.

Boca stadium: Boca Juniors have had their stadium closed for two matches by the Argentine government following violence during last week's Libertadores Cup quarter-final against Mexico's Guadalajara. The South American Football Confederation (CSF), meanwhile, handed indefinite suspensions to Boca's Martin Palermo and Adolfo Bautista, of Guadalajara, who were both sent off for violent conduct. The CSF also banned Boca coach Jorge Benitez for spitting at Bautista as the Mexican left the field. Bautista was also attacked by a Boca supporter.

Real Madrid: Real Madrid are to play MLS Mexican club Chivas of Guadalajara in a friendly at Soldier Field, Chicago on July 16. The Spanish club then travel to Carson, California to meet Los Angeles Galaxy two days later. The US trip was confirmed by Real vice-president Emilio Butragueno.

Frey: Fiorentina have signed French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey from Serie A rivals Parma. The Florence club said in a statement that Frey had signed on loan but Italian media reports say the deal is expected to become permanent.

In Italy: Serie B relegation play-off second leg, today - Vicenza vs Triestina (first leg: 0-2).
