Park: South Korean Park Ji-sung's move to Manchester United will make him Asia's most famous soccer player ever, Asian Football Confederation general secretary Peter Velappan said yesterday. "Asian players have made their mark in Europe but this is on a different level in terms of the amount of attention he will receive. "It's important that Asian players are able to play at the highest level and we are delighted that Park has made the grade. A lot of Asian kids will be looking up to him."

Burruchaga: Former Argentina striker Jorge Burruchaga says he is open to offers after ending his three-year spell at Arsenal, his first job as a coach. Burruchaga, scorer of the winning goal in the 1986 World Cup final, led the modest club out of the second division, turned them into title challengers and qualified them for their first international competition. "I kept my promise of staying with the team to the end of the championship," he said. "For the time being, I'm open to offers."

Kapsis: Greek international defender Michalis Kapsis joined Olympiakos Piraeus yesterday after just one season with Girondins Bordeaux. The 32-year-old Kapsis, who helped Greece to their Euro 2004 triumph, has signed a two-year contract with an option of an extra year.

Rivarola: Guillermo Rivarola has changed his mind and is to stay on as coach of Racing Club. "(Racing general manager) Fernando Marin told me he wanted me to continue as Racing coach," said Rivarola, who had announced his resignation on Tuesday. Asked how long his contract would be, the 37-year-old replied: "In Argentina, it all depends upon results."
