Morrison: Irish international striker Clinton Morrison is set to move from Birmingham City to Norwich City after the clubs agreed a fee yesterday. Morrison, 26, moved to Birmingham for a club record £4.25 million from Crystal Palace three years ago. He eventually struck up a good partnership with Emile Heskey but the arrival of Walter Pandiani in January saw his appearances drop off. Morrison has only a year left on his contract and travelled to Norwich yesterday to discuss personal terms.

Demichelis: Bayern Munich midfielder Martin Demichelis faces four weeks out injured after tearing an ankle ligament while training with Argentina before their friendly against Hungary. Bayern said the defensive midfielder had his left ankle put in plaster yesterday after tearing the ligament on Wednesday evening just before the match kicked off. The 24-year-old had established himself in the Bayern side but seems certain to miss their next two Bundesliga matches.

Australia: Australia's new soccer coach Guus Hiddink has vowed to choose his strongest possible team for next month's World Cup qualifiers against the Solomon Islands. Although the Australians are strong favourites to win the two-leg Oceania qualifying series, the Dutch coach says he does not want to take any chances. "It is a huge task (making the World Cup finals) for all of us," Hiddink said. "I think it is convenient to have all possible players for the games against the Solomon Islands. I intend to bring the strongest squad in my view."

Sacked: Last-placed Austrian Bundesliga club Admira have fired coach Dominik Thalhammer after losing all six matches so far in the new season. Robert Pflug, the club's amateur coach and former head trainer at Sturm Graz, was named the new coach by Admira's president Majid Pishyar and director Hans Werner Weiss.

In Russia: Russian businessman Alexei Fedorychev, already owner of Dynamo Moscow and sponsor of French Ligue 1 club Monaco, has bought Russian premier league rivals FK Rostov. Rostov said that Agrofest-Don, controlled by Fedorychev, had bought the shares in the southern club from tobacco company Donskoi Tabak. Fedorychev acquired a 51 per cent stake in Dynamo last September and has tried to make the former police side a force in Europe, spending more than $100 million on new players.
