Valencia: Valencia have offered Hamburg 14 million euros for their captain Rafael van der Vaart and the Dutch player says he wants to join the Spanish club. "I absolutely want to leave, Valencia is my dream," midfielder Van der Vaart said. "If I had to stay in Hamburg it would be painful." Van der Vaart is contracted to Hamburg until 2010 and has said his contract has no escape clause that would allow him to change clubs without a transfer fee.

Simunek: Sparta Prague defender Jan Simunek is set to sign a four-year contract with Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. The 20-year-old has only played once for the Czech champions this year but he was captain of the team which lost 2-1 to Argentina in the final of the U-20 World Cup in Canada last month.

Sevilla: Injured duo Julien Escude and Adriano Correia could play for Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie against AEK Athens tomorrow. French centre-back Escude has received an anti-inflammatory injection to deal with a groin problem while Brazilian winger Adriano is running again after spraining his right ankle.

Bolton: Bolton Wanderers manager Sammy Lee made his 12th signing since taking over from Sam Allardyce in April when defender Andy O'Brien joined the club from English Premier League rivals Portsmouth. The 29-year-old Ireland international has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year.

Spiderman mask: Pablo Salinas was sent off for a Spiderman goal celebration after scoring for Bolivia's The Strongest in their 2-0 derby win over Bolivar on Sunday. Salinas scored the second in the 73rd minute after a one-two with Pablo Escobar. He celebrated by pulling a Spiderman mask from his shorts and putting it on his head but the gesture earned him a second yellow card and he was sent off.

Everton offer: Benfica received an offer from Everton to sell 50 per cent of their rights in international midfielder Manuel Fernandes. Benfica said they were considering the offer from Everton or alternatively whether to buy the remaining 50 per cent of the rights to the 21-year-old player from an investment banking group.
