Arsenal: Arsenal forwards Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg will miss the Premier League fixture against Middlesbrough today after taking part in last week's World Cup qualifiers. "Thierry is out because he got a kick on his calf playing for France against Ireland on Wednesday, while Freddie is rested since he had two tough games for Sweden last week," manager Arsene Wenger said. Henry scored a brilliant goal to give France their victory in Dublin, while Ljungberg played for 90 minutes in both of Sweden's victories over Bulgaria and Hungary.

Alam: An appeal by former secretary Faria Alam against the English Football Association for wrongful dismissal and alleged sexual discrimination has been rejected by an employment tribunal. "We are pleased that allegations of sexual discrimination against the FA and of sexual harassment against executive director David Davies were unanimously dismissed by the tribunal."

Stein: Former Celtic and Scotland boss Jock Stein will be remembered on the 20th anniversary of his death with a minute's applause before Celtic's game against Aberdeen today. Chelsea: Chelsea could be without midfielder Claude Makelele and winger Damien Duff today after the club's squad returned battered and bruised from World Cup qualifiers. The English champions host bottom side Sunderland in the Premier League today and Anderlecht in their Champions League opener on Tuesday. Mourinho said midfielder Joe Cole as well as Spain defender Asier Del Horno were also doubts. He did not specify their injuries.

Ronaldo: Ronaldo has passed a fitness test on a thigh injury and is included in Real Madrid's squad to face Celta Vigo in the Primera Liga at the Bernabeu today. The striker sustained the injury in Brazil's 5-0 win over Chile last weekend. However, Ronaldo will miss Real's opening Champions League match at Olympique Lyon next Tuesday because of a two-match ban for being sent off during the defeat by Juventus last season.

Boa Morte: Fulham captain Luis Boa Morte has extended his contract with the Premier League side by another five years, keeping him at the London club until June 2010. The 28-year-old Portugal forward joined Fulham five years ago after spells at Arsenal, where he helped win the double of league and FA Cup in 1998, and Southampton.
