Eriksson: Vandals have smashed a front window at the London house of England soccer coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, police said yesterday. The vandals threw an object, reportedly a brick, through the window near Regent's Park in London last Monday. Eriksson, who is preparing his team for two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Poland in Manchester, was not in the house at the time. Police said they had made no arrests.
Inzaghi: Injury-prone striker Filippo Inzaghi moved a step closer to returning to top-flight football when he was selected to play for Milan's youth team this weekend, the Serie A side said yesterday. Inzaghi has been plagued by injuries during the past two years. Should he come through today's game unscathed, Inzaghi, 32, could make his first-team comeback when Milan resume their Serie A campaign against Cagliari at the San Siro on October 16.
Woodgate: Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate has suffered a minor ankle strain that caused him to miss training yesterday. The 25-year-old centre-back, who recently made his comeback after 17 months on the sidelines because of a thigh injury, sustained the injury to his right ankle in a practice match against local club Rayo Vallecano on Thursday.
Koller: Czech striker Jan Koller will be out of action for about eight months after a knee operation yesterday, his club Borussia Dortmund said. Koller suffered the ligament injury in Dortmund's 1-1 draw FSV Mainz on Sept. 24.
