Ferguson: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has warned that he will not tolerate criticism of players from within Old Trafford being made public. Ferguson is understood to have been behind the decision to pull the plug on an interview this week in which club captain Roy Keane hit out at his team-mates on the club's television station. "You don't criticise any of the United players outside the doors. I've never done. I won't," Ferguson said.

Puskas: A fund to pay for the hospital costs of ailing Hungarian soccer legend Ferenc Puskas is to receive 56,000 pounds from the organisers of a much criticised match between a Hungarian team and Real Madrid. Laszlo Erdos, manager of Trendsport Ltd, the organisers of the match which was played on August 14, told Reuters the money would be paid into the bank account of a trust founded by the Hungarian Football Association for the 78-year-old Puskas.

France: France coach Raymond Domenech will decide next week whether Gregory Coupet or Fabien Barthez will be the country's number one goalkeeper ahead of the 2006 World Cup. "A choice has to be made. It's not been made yet, we'll have some time to discuss the matter," Domenech said yesterday. "However, neither Fabien nor Gregory want to be number two. It cannot be Fabien once and then Gregory the next time. It's never been like this. When am I going to chose? Before the Costa Rica game, we will know," he added.

Maradona: Diego Maradona will be given a role with Argentina's national team and could take over as coach following the 2006 World Cup, Argentina FA (AFA) president Julio Grondona said. "Diego has been incorporated into the national team staff," Grondona said, one day after meeting Maradona to discuss his future with the national team. Grondona said it was too early to say exactly what sort of role Maradona would perform but he dismissed rumours that coach Jose Pekerman would resign if he was given a powerful role.

Klos: Goalkeeper Stefan Klos will return for Rangers in their Scottish Premier League game at home to Aberdeen today after 10 months on the sidelines, replacing out-of-form Dutchman Ronald Waterreus. German Klos lost his place in January after suffering knee ligament damage.

MFA Division III: Rabat vs Birzebbuga 1-1; Mgarr vs Xghajra 0-0.

In England: FA Cup first round - Port Vale vs Wrexham 2-1; Merthyr vs Walsall 1-2; Cambridge vs Hereford 0-1.
