Assuncao: Brazilian midfielder Marcos Assuncao has reached an agreement to rescind his contract with Real Betis. Assuncao, 31, joined Betis from Roma in 2002, helped the team to victory in the King's Cup and qualification for the Champions League in 2005. He was renowned for his deadly free-kicks from the edge of the area.

Manchev: Bulgarian international striker Vladimir Manchev has signed for second division Celta Vigo who are coached by fellow countryman Hristo Stoichkov, former boss of the national team. Manchev helped former clubs Valladolid and Levante earn promotion to the Primera Liga.

Litex fined: Litex Lovech have been fined 10,000 levs ($6,892) by the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) after honorary president Grisha Ganchev attempted to man-handle a match official. The incident occurred during the team's ill-tempered 1-1 draw with CSKA Sofia on August 11.

Cannavaro: Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has said he will never retire from international football like Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta. "I would never say no to the national team, I hold it very dear," he said.

Martins: Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce said the club had received no offers for Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins. Martins has a release clause in his contract allowing him to leave if a club pays a specific buyout fee and media reports this week linked Manchester United with the forward. "I've had no contact from any football club... wanting to activate the clause in his contract," Allardyce said.

Sebo: Slovakia striker Filip Sebo has joined French side Valenciennes on a season-long loan from Rangers. The Scottish Premier League club confirmed the departure of the 23-year-old, who arrived at Ibrox last year from Austria Vienna, on their website.

Job: Cameroon striker Joseph-Desire Job is leaving French second division club Sedan for Ligue 1 side Nice. The former Middlesbrough player, 29, has signed a two-year contract for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Carlos Alberto: Werder Bremen's Brazilian forward Carlos Alberto was taken to hospital for a range of tests after complaining of sickness and vertigo during a training session. Carlos Alberto joined Werder from Corinthians for a club record fee of about 8 million euros before the start of this season but he has yet to make an impact.

Chevanton: Sevilla's unsettled striker Ernesto Chevanton has lashed out at coach Juande Ramos and said he will be leaving the club. "I don't care if he stays or goes, I won't be here," Chevanton was quoted as saying.

Ronaldinho: Starting as a substitute after declining to take part in last month's Copa America, Ronaldinho came off the bench to score the second goal in Brazil's 2-0 friendly win over Algeria yesterday. Full-back Maicon opened the scoring just after the hour in Brazil's first match since they won the Copa America in Venezuela. Ronaldinho and Kaka both started on the bench. The pair were brought on at half-time as Brazil made seven substitutions.
