Portsmouth: Portsmouth announced yesterday that businessman Alexandre Gaydamak is to become joint owner with current chairman Milan Mandaric. Gaydamak, a French national, is the son of Russian billionaire Arcadi Gaydamak, who owns Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem. "Portsmouth FC can confirm it has reached an agreement in principle with Alexandre Gaydamak over the future shareholding and development of the club," Portsmouth said in a statement.

Vryzas: Fiorentina striker Zisis Vryzas is set to complete a loan move to Torino this week. The 32-year-old wants to leave Florence as in-form forward Luca Toni has restricted him to just one appearance all season. Vryzas has all but tied up a six-month loan switch to Torino and will spend the rest of the season in Serie B. The Greece international joined Fiorentina in January 2004 from Perugia.

Gattuso: Gennaro Gattuso, 27, yesterday told reporters he considered joining Manchester United last summer, but is now planning to end his career at the San Siro with Milan. "There has been a really little idea about leaving to United... let's say a 30/40 per cent chance," Gattuso said. "Then I made a conscious examination - what there is at Milan isn't everywhere." The former Rangers ace has three years to run on his current contract.

Bonazzoli: Sampdoria striker Emiliano Bonazzoli damaged a knee ligament in training on Sunday and could be out for the rest of the season. Bonazzoli, who has scored nine goals in Serie A this season, suffered partial rupture to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, according to club doctor Giuliano Cerulli. Sampdoria have asked for the return of striker Corrado Colombo, who is on loan at Serie A rivals Ascoli.

Saviola: Sevilla's Argentine international striker Javier Saviola will be sidelined for around a month after suffering a thigh injury during training yesterday. It is the second injury setback of the season for the 23-year-old. He joined Sevilla on loan from Barcelona in August but suffered a ligament strain in his left knee the following month.

Woodgate: Centre back Jonathan Woodgate returned to the Real Madrid squad yesterday almost two months after suffering a hamstring tear in his left leg. The 25-year-old England international, who has been in full training since the team returned from the winter break, was named in the Real squad for today's King's Cup match at Athletic Bilbao.
