Campbell: Troubled England defender Sol Campbell has gone missing after storming out of Arsenal's Highbury stadium when he was substituted on Wednesday. "I don't know when Sol will return. I have not spoken to him since Wednesday night and I don't know where he is at the moment," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "I think he just needs a few days to clear his head but I don't know if he will be coming in on Monday. I am not worried." Arsenal team-mate Robert Pires was quoted as saying Campbell had an unspecified personal problem. Wenger says he has no clue what lies at the root of his defender's problems.

Kluivert: Valencia striker Patrick Kluivert will travel to the Netherlands to seek specialist advice on his right knee after experiencing problems in training, the Primera Liga side said. The 29-year-old Dutch international has been blighted by injury since joining Valencia from Newcastle in June. He has played just 190 minutes of league football this season and looked to have recovered form after scoring one and setting up another in Valencia's 2-2 draw against Real Zaragoza on Sunday.

Obi Mikel: Alex Ferguson has insisted John Obi Mikel wants to play for Man. United. The Nigerian midfielder's future has been clouded in mystery after he stated that he wanted to play for Chelsea despite signing for United in April last year. Teenager Mikel, who was due to join United in January from Norwegian club Lyn Oslo, said he had been put under pressure to sign a £4 million deal. "I think if you sat that boy down, away from all the pressure and all the threats he is under, and asked him who he wanted to play for, the answer would be Manchester United," Ferguson said.

Ronaldo: Ronaldo was named in the Real Madrid squad for today's home league match against Espanyol after a month out with a calf strain. The Brazilian last played in Real's 0-0 draw against Villarreal on January 8. He limped off after 33 minutes with a recurrence of a calf injury.

Assis: Benfica midfielder Nuno Assis has been temporarily suspended after testing positive for a banned substance at a Portuguese Premier League match. Assis, 28, tested positive for steroid norandrosterone on December 3 when Benfica beat Maritimo 1-0, a spokesman for the side said. Benfica did not administer the substance, the spokesman said.

Beckenbauer: Franz Beckenbauer believes Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann should decide who will be his goalkeeper in the World Cup. Klinsmann does not have one first-choice incumbent, playing Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann in alternate matches. "I think it's not really helpful because the position of the goalkeeper and the defensive line is the most sensitive part in the team," Beckenbauer said. "The team must know very, very soon who is the goalkeeper. Me, as a defender I knew exactly that Sepp Maier was behind me, I knew everything he was doing. But if you don't know then you are insecure."

Basketball: Peugeot League SF play-offs: Depiro vs Loyola 57-50 (Depiro in final after winning series 3-0); Hibs vs Luxol 42-36 (2-1).
