Adriano: Inter striker Adriano has won his appeal against a two-match Serie A ban imposed by the Italian Football League's disciplinary committee. The committee banned the Brazilian international after he appeared to slap opposition defender Alessandro Grandoni in the face during a 0-0 draw with Livorno at the weekend. After analysis of television replays the committee revoked their original decision, saying the striker's actions were involuntary and did not constitute violent conduct. Adriano is now free to play in Inter's home match against Udinese on Sunday.

Figo: Midfielder Luis Figo is back in Portugal's squad for next month's World Cup warm-up with Saudi Arabia in Germany, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said yesterday. The 33-year-old Inter player was rested for the last two friendlies with Croatia and Northern Ireland in November but returns for the match in Duesseldorf on March 1. Scolari has also recalled in-form Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma from the under-21 team.

Dida: Milan goalkeeper Dida is in danger of missing the return leg of his side's Champions League tie against Bayern Munich on March 8 due to an ankle sprain. The Brazilian fell awkwardly on his right ankle during the second half of Milan's 1-1 draw with Bayern on Tuesday. The injury will keep him out of Milan's next two Serie A matches against Palermo on Sunday and against Empoli on March 4.

England: The soccer associations of the seven countries in Euro 2008 qualifying Group E including England failed to reach agreement yesterday on a fixtures schedule. "We are sorry that an agreement has not been reached despite our efforts, so the representatives of all seven countries will meet on March 2 for a draw," Croatian FA secretary Zorislav Srebric said. He did not disclose the venue of the draw.
