No show: PAOK Salonica owner Ivan Savvidis pulled his team out of the Greek Cup yesterday after they failed to appear for their semi-final, second leg against Olympiakos Piraeus because his conditions had not been met. The 57-year-old Russian-born Greek businessman Savvidis warned in March that he would not take his team to Athens for the match unless a foreign referee was appointed.

Scots’ best: Dundee’s Kane Hemmings and Greg Stewart have been named on the PFA Scotland Player of the Year shortlist. The forwards join Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes. Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney is the only top-flight candidate for the young player award. The 18-year-old joins Rangers winger Barrie McKay and Hibernian pair John McGinn and Jason Cummings on the list. The winners will be announced on Sunday.

Firework: A top-flight Swedish league match between IFK Gothenburg and Malmo was abandoned after 78 minutes yesterday when a firework exploded under the feet of substitute Tobias Sana. Malmo winger Sana was warming up on the sidelines at the Gamla Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg when a firework that appeared to have been thrown from a section containing home supporters bounced under his feet and exploded.

Drummy: League Two side Crawley have appointed former Arsenal coach Dermot Drummy as their new manager. The 55-year-old has appointed former Aldershot coach Matt Gray as his assistant and will take training for the first time today ahead of Saturday’s clash with Dagenham. Drummy joined the coaching staff at Arsenal in 1999 where he helped to develop players such as Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere.
