Junior: Everton midfielder Francisco Junior has joined Stromsgodset on a permanent transfer after failing to establish himself at Goodison Park. The 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder joined on a free transfer four years ago but managed just one solitary first-team appearance in the Capital One Cup defeat at Leeds in September 2012 when he was withdrawn at half-time.

Avelar: Torino full back Danilo Avelar is expected to be out of action for about six months after picking up his second knee injury of the season. The 26-year-old Brazilian underwent surgery yesterday morning to reconstruct his cruciate ligament. Avelar has played only eight matches since joining Torino last year from Cagliari.

Bolton: Bolton Wanderers, one of England’s oldest soccer clubs, received a reprieve in their fight for survival at a High Court hearing yesterday. The Championship (second tier) club announced that they have been given a 14-day adjournment to conclude a takeover deal with the Sports Shield Consortium run by their former player, Dean Holdsworth.

Bruma: PSV defender Jeffrey Bruma has signed a contract extension to keep him with the Eredivisie giants until 2018. Holland international Bruma, signed from Chelsea in 2013, has played 118 times so far for PSV, and his previous contract was set to expire in 2017.

Zuculini: Manchester City midfielder Bruno Zuculini’s loan spell to AEK Athens has been cut short by injury, the Greek Super League team said yesterday. The 22-year-old Argentine fractured his left foot in training yesterday and AEK doctors said Zuculini must undergo surgery and will then need at least two months recuperation.
