Fined: Spartak Moscow have been fined 200,000 roubles ($3,080) after their fans displayed a banner with a Nazi symbol during a Russian Premier League match against Krylia Sovetov, the Russian Football Union (RFU) said. Spartak won the match 2-0 in Samara on Sunday. Their fans were also accused of offensive behaviour during the league match against Ufa in July.

Holgate: Everton have completed the signing of teenage defender Mason Holgate from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, understood to be an initial £1m. Holgate, 18, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2020. But Everton have insisted he has not been signed as a potential replacement for John Stones, who will not be sold to Chelsea, according to manager Roberto Martinez.

Leverkusen: Bayer Leverkusen won a tug-of-war for Chile international Charles Aranguiz, signing the talented midfielder on a five-year contract. The 26-year-old Aranguiz, who won the Copa America with the national team last month, also reached South America’s Copa Libertadores semi-final with Brazilian club Internacional. “We worked towards this deal for a long time which did not become any easier after his outstanding performances both at the Copa as well as with his club,” Bayer Leverkusen CEO Michael Schade said.

Keseru: Bulgarian champions Ludogorets have signed Romania striker Claudio Keseru from Qatari club Al-Gharafa on a three-year deal. Last August, Keseru became the first Steaua Bucharest player to score six goals in a competitive match during the 6-0 Romanian league rout of Pandurii Targu-Jiu. A month later, he scored the fastest hat-trick in the Europa League history, netting three times within 12 minutes in Steaua’s 6-0 win over AaB Aalborg.

De Gea: Louis van Gaal has confirmed David de Gea is still not mentally fit enough to play for Manchester United. De Gea sat out United’s season-opening win against Tottenham last week. Van Gaal felt he was not able to focus because of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid. And the United boss has confirmed the keeper will not feature in tonight’s match against Aston Villa. “No, it’s the same situation,” the United manager said when asked if De Gea would be in the squad for the Villa game.
