Shevchenko: Milan's Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko wants to leave the Serie A club and move to England, club owner Silvio Berlusconi said yesterday. "He wants to leave. He wants to go to England," Berlusconi told a group of students in front of the prime minister's office.

Gallas: Chelsea have responded to William Gallas's desire to leave the club by saying they have no intention of releasing him. The France defender told yesterday's edition of French sports daily L'Equipe: "Milan are interested in me and I'm interested in going there. I have taken my decision, I want to leave." Gallas, 28, joined the London club from Marseille in 2001 under previous coach Claudio Ranieri and has been an important factor in their back-to-back titles under Jose Mourinho.

Ballack: Germany captain Michael Ballack has "no doubts" that he will move to Chelsea after finishing his fourth season at Bayern Munich today. "I think my decision should be accepted and I shouldn't be kicked around anymore about it," Ballack, 29, said. "That has actually been annoying me." Ballack has been jeered by Bayern fans in recent weeks.

Klinsmann: Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann should be replaced if his team exits the World Cup early, Franz Beckenbauer said. "If he and his team are ejected from the tournament early, if their performance is disappointing then (his position) would be unsustainable," Beckenbauer said.

AEK fan: One of the AEK Athens football supporters arrested after a riot on board a ferry bringing fans back from Iraklion after Wednesday's Greek Cup final, has been charged with attempted murder. The man, who was charged by a public prosecutor yesterday, allegedly fired a flare on to the pier while the ferry was sailing into Rafina harbour, just outside Athens. The flare hit a police officer who was taken to hospital.

Butcher: Former England international Terry Butcher has arrived in Australia to consider an offer to coach A-League champions Sydney FC. Butcher is currently manager of Scottish club Motherwell but has been given permission to speak to Sydney, who are looking for a new coach after the resignation of Pierre Littbarski.
