Sanz: Former president Lorenzo Sanz has said he will stand in the Real Madrid presidential election on July 2. "Madrid need a revolution," local media reported Sanz as saying. Sanz was president for five years in the late 1990's. Under him the club won two European Cups in 1998 and 2000, and a league title in 1997. He was surprisingly defeated by Florentino Perez in 2000, and crushed when he stood against Perez's re-election in 2004.

Aguero: Argentine striker Sergio Aguero shrugged off the weight of expectation surrounding his arrival at Atletico Madrid as he was officially presented as a player yesterday. The 18-year-old, rated as one of Argentina's most exciting prospects, was bought from Independiente for a reported fee of between $25.75 million and $29.61 million, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in world football.

Koller: Czech Republic striker Jan Koller has joined Monaco from Borussia Dortmund on a two-year contract. The transfer does not involve a fee since Koller's contract with the German club has ended. The 2.01 metre tall striker, 33, is the Czech Republic's all-time top scorer having netted 40 goals in 66 matches.

US Win: United States beat fellow World Cup finalists Angola 1-0 in a warm-up played behind closed doors yesterday. The only goal was scored by striker Brian McBride, according to German sports news agency SID. Angola captain Fabrice Akwa told Reuters the US wore shirts without numbers. He also said Angola had defender Loco sent off late in the first half for a second yellow card.

Real Zaragoza: Real Zaragoza have appointed former coach Victor Fernandez to lead the Primera Liga club for the next four seasons. He replaces Victor Munoz who left when the club exercised a get-out clause in his contract at the end of last season. Although Zaragoza reached the King's Cup final, losing to Espanyol, they only finished 11th in the league. Agapito Iglesias bought the majority shareholding in the club from departing president Alfonso Solans last month.
