Ronaldo: Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has said he would like to play for Real Madrid and plans to talk about his future after the World Cup. Ronaldo has aligned himself with a candidate for Real's presidential election on July 2, Juan Miguel Villar Mir. Although he has made no firm commitment to a move he said he would open negotiations if Villar Mir won the election. United responded by saying Ronaldo had signed a long-term contract and would be playing for Man. United next season.

Hartson: Celtic striker John Hartson, 31, has signed a two-year contract with second division West Bromwich Albion. Although he had a year remaining on his Celtic deal, the former Wales international felt the time was right to return to English football.

Advocaat: Dick Advocaat's decision to step down as South Korea manager and coach Zenit SP was made in order to work with players full-time. Advocaat did not renew his contract to coach South Korea after they were eliminated from the World Cup last week. Zenit were supposed to be serious title contenders this year after being bought by Russian energy giant Gazprom, but they are languishing in mid-table in the league.

Rangers: Rangers have invited Marseille striker Cyril Chapuis, Senegalese midfielder Makhtar N'Diaye and Juve's teenage midfielder Davide Tosetti for trials. Chapuis and N'Diaye were key players for new Rangers manager Paul Le Guen when he was in charge of Rennes.
