Del Horno: Chelsea have agreed to sell defender Asier Del Horno to Valencia, the English champions said yesterday. The Spanish international left back has travelled to Valencia to negotiate personal terms. Del Horno joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in June 2005 and made 32 appearances for the club last season.

Abbondanzieri: Getafe have completed the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri and compatriot Lucas Licht. Abbondanzieri was Argentina's first choice goalkeeper at the World Cup finals and moves from Boca Juniors. Argentine media have reported that Getafe will pay around 1.5 million euros.

Kily Gonzalez: Kily Gonzalez, who played for Argentina in the 2002 World Cup, has returned to Rosario Central on loan from Inter, the Argentine first division club said. Gonzalez turned down a more lucrative offer from Boca Juniors, where he played in 1995-96 prior to moving to Europe.

Wolves: Former Sunderland and coach Mick McCarthy has been named as manager of Wolves on a 12-month rolling contract, the second division club said. McCarthy, sacked in March by Sunderland after three years in charge, will take over at Molineux on Monday following Glenn Hoddle's resignation earlier this month.

Laporta: Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said he and his board will step down next Wednesday, to set in motion a presidential election at the club, as ordered by a Spanish judge earlier in the week. "I intend to stand again in the election to defend the interests of Barcelona," Laporta told a news conference yesterday, after an emergency board meeting. On Wednesday Judge Roberto Garcia Ceniceros upheld a complaint from three club members who said Laporta had already served his four-year tenure.
