Reyes: Arsenal's Spain forward Jose Antonio Reyes has said if Real Madrid made an offer for him it would be difficult to say 'no'. "I have always said to play for Real was one of my biggest objectives. It's something I can't hide," Reyes said. "They are a club who are difficult to turn down. But, I am happy at Arsenal and I am not looking for another team. The only way anyone can sign me, including Real, is by speaking to Arsenal."

Gallas: France defender William Gallas is likely to be punished by Chelsea after failing to join up with the squad on their pre-season tour of the US. "William requested extra time off following the World Cup but was informed he should still report to Los Angeles on the date previously agreed with him," read a statement yesterday. Gallas, 28, has struggled to hold down a place in his favoured position of centre-back in the Chelsea team and said in May that he wished to leave the club.

Chevanton: Monaco have reached an agreement with Sevilla over a transfer of Uruguay striker Javier Ernesto Chevanton. The transfer fee is reported to be around eight million euros. Chevanton, 25, joined Monaco from Serie A side Lecce two years ago. He has scored 20 goals from 50 appearances in Ligue 1 with the principality club.

Paintsil: West Ham signed Ghana defender John Paintsil from Hapoel Tel Aviv yesterday, subject to the player receiving a work permit. West Ham said that the 25-year-old had signed a four-year contract in a deal costing up to one million pounds. Paintsil played in all Ghana's matches at the World Cup where the African nation reached the second round.

Senna: Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna has said he is keen to know where his future lies with Manchester United looking to lure him to Old Trafford. "I know they are negotiating a transfer and I hope they sort things out as soon as possible so I know what my future will be," Senna said. The Brazilian-born 30-year-old was part of the Spain squad in the World Cup finals and was a central figure in the Villarreal side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Lineker: Former England captain turned BBC presenter Gary Lineker was divorced yesterday by his wife on the grounds of his "continuing unreasonable behaviour". At a brief hearing at London's Principal Registry of the Family Division, District Judge Reid formally granted the decree divorcing Lineker from his wife Michelle Cockayne.
