Mifsud on target: Michael Mifsud proved decisive again for Lillestrom yesterday when hitting the winner in a 2-1 victory away to Viking Stavanger. The Malta striker found the net two minutes into the second half after Viking had, on the stroke of half-time, cancelled out Lillestrom's 36th minute opener. In midweek, Mifsud earned Lillestrom an important 2-0 win over Brann Bergen, striking a quickfire brace in the closing minutes after coming on as a substitute. Lillestrom are second in the Norwegian championship with 28 points from 15 matches, three fewer than leaders Brann Bergen who have played a game more. Yesterday, Brann Bergen lost 1-0 at home to IK Start.

Fans detained: German police detained 10 soccer fans after a brawl between B. Dortmund and Tottenham supporters in a Dortmund tavern after their teams drew 1-1 in a pre-season match, police said yesterday. Police said 80 people were involved in the fight late on Saturday. Those detained included seven Germans, two British men and one man from the Netherlands.

Bobby Robson: Former England soccer manager Bobby Robson was taken to hospital during Ipswich's second division home game with Crystal Palace on Saturday. The 73-year-old complained of feeling unwell 10 minutes into the match. Robson underwent tests and was said to be comfortable. Before the game, which Ipswich lost 2-1, Robson had been on the pitch waving to the crowd in his new capacity as club president.

Bangladesh boost: The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh said yesterday he hoped to bring leading English soccer clubs to the country to help boost the game. "It's a challenge to bring clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United to Bangladesh and I will take it," Anwar Choudhury said while launching a soccer coaching programme for young Bangladeshi footballers.
