Bhamjee expelled: FIFA executive committee member Ismail Bhamjee has been expelled from the Botswana FA over a World Cup ticket scandal. Delegates at the association's annual congress voted 42 to 40 against him at the end of a heated debate that went on past midnight on Saturday, officials said.

Ayala: Valencia said they had opened disciplinary proceedings against Argentine centre-back Roberto Ayala for his criticisms of the club last week. Ayala railed against club president Juan Bautista Soler and sporting director Amedeo Carboni for failing to honour a promised contract extension and accused the two men of having cheated him.

Ben Haim: Israel defender Tal Ben Haim has been expelled from the national team's training camp in Slovenia by coach Dror Kashtan. The 24-year-old Bolton defender, who has played 22 times for Israel, refused to take part in training and gave no explanation for his behaviour.

In Scotland: Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw away at Dunfermline in their Premier League game yesterday. Thomas Buffel put Rangers ahead in the 63rd minute when he raced in to slide a shot across keeper Rod McKenzie, but Dunfermline levelled when substitute Owen Morrison pounced on a blunder by keeper Lionel Letizi. Morrison forced the ball over the line in the 68th from close range after Letizi failed to deal with a cross and earned Dunfermline's first point of the season. Rangers remain in sixth place with five points from three games.

In England: Substitute Clinton Morrison scored in injury time to give Crystal Palace a 1-0 home win over Leeds yesterday and put them top of the English second division. Palace, the only team to have won all three of their matches, are two points clear of a clutch of four clubs on seven, Burnley, Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff City and Birmingham City, who all played on Saturday. Leeds played for 75 minutes with 10 men after forward Geoff Horsfield was sent off.

Seitaridis: Atletico Madrid defender Yourkas Seitaridis will miss Greece's friendly international against England at Old Trafford on Wednesday after straining an ankle. Atletico said Seitaridis had injured his left ankle during the 1-0 defeat by Milan in a pre-season tournament in La Coruna on Saturday and would be out for approximately two weeks.

In Germany: Bundesliga - Hanover vs Werder Bremen 2-4; Wolfsburg vs Hertha Berlin 0-0.

In France: Ligue 1 - Lille vs Racing Lens 4-0.

In Holland: Super Cup - Ajax vs PSV Eindhoven 3-1.
