Lennon: Tottenham Hotspur's England winger Aaron Lennon has recovered from a knee injury and was due to travel to Prague for today's UEFA Cup first-round, first-leg tie against Slavia Prague, the club said. Spurs manager Martin Jol had told the Spurs website on Sunday that Lennon's injury could require surgery but the teenager trained with the squad on Tuesday and will have a late fitness test before Tottenham open their UEFA Cup campaign.

Scaloni: Argentine midfielder Lionel Scaloni has agreed to join Racing Santander on a one-year contract yesterday. The 28-year-old, who was a member of Argentina's squad at the World Cup finals in Germany, had negotiated a release from his contract with Deportivo La Coruna at the end of August. Scaloni joined Depor from Estudiantes de La Plata in 1998 and was in the side that won the league in 2000 and the King's Cup in 2002.

Tristan: Former Deportivo Coruna striker Diego Tristan has agreed a move to Real Mallorca, the Primera Liga club said yesterday. The 30-year-old former Spain international negotiated a release from his contract with Depor at the end of August after being told he did not feature in the club's plans.

President on leave: The president of Argentine first division club Gimnasia-La Plata has voluntarily gone on leave after his alleged threats to a referee forced a match to be abandoned at half-time on Sunday. Juan Jose Munoz said he would step aside until the Argentine FA reached a final decision. Gimnasia's match at home to Argentine championship leaders Boca Juniors was called off on Sunday after Munoz went in to the dressing room of referee Daniel Gimenez. Munoz has denied making any threat.

Euro 2008 Security: Switzerland's federal government yesterday approved the deployment of up to 15,000 troops to help civilian authorities when the country co-hosts the 2008 European soccer championship. The soldiers would be deployed from June 2-18 in Switzerland's four host cities, Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich, the Federal Council said in a statement.
