Andrade out: Juve defender Jorge Andrade looks likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during his side's 2-2 draw at Roma yesterday. "The worst news today is that Andrade has torn a knee tendon and I think we'll lose him for the whole season," Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said. The centre-back, who joined Juve from Deportivo in the close season, was carried off the field on a stretcher at the start of the second half of the Serie A match.

Energie Cottbus: Energie Cottbus fired coach Petrik Sander yesterday after the Bundesliga club slipped to last place with just two points from their first six matches. Thomas Hossmang, Sander's former assistant, will take over on an interim basis. Sander, appointed as manager in November 2004, is the first head coach from Germany's top league to be fired this season.

Nou Camp design: Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium is to have a radical new $350 million face lift when it is remodelled by British architect Norman Foster. The 50-year-old stadium will be enveloped in a mosaic veil of coloured tiles, a mixture of polycarbonate and coloured glass panels. Integrated within the tiles of the outer skin will be special lighting elements which will mean the external façade can be used for animated lighting displays.

Owen: Michael Owen was substituted for the second successive match yesterday in Newcastle's 3-1 win over West Ham. Owen, who has returned to the Newcastle and England teams this season after missing most of last season because of injury, was replaced after 51 minutes by Obafemi Martins as a precaution against a niggling groin injury. He also came off early in the second half of Newcastle's defeat at Derby last Monday and the club are closely monitoring the situation before determining whether he needs a hernia operation.

Women's World Cup: Yesterday's QFs - Brazil vs Australia 3-2; Norway vs China 1-0. Semi-finals - Germany vs Norway; United States vs Brazil.
