Flachi Suspended: Sampdoria striker Francesco Flachi has been suspended for two months by the Italian Football League following an investigation into allegations he helped gather information for gamblers. The Football League's disciplinary commission ruled that Flachi had "sought to gain information on the outcome of games" for a third party. Flachi's former Samp team-mate Moris Carrozzieri, now with Atalanta, was also handed a two month ban for the same offence relating to a lower division game.

Croatia: Croatia coach Slaven Bilic has recalled three expelled players in his squad for next month's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and England in Zagreb. Midfielder Darijo Srna and forwards Bosko Balaban and Ivica Olic were fined and dropped from the squad earlier this month after they left a training camp in Slovenia to go to a nightclub. All three were named in the 24-man squad for the Group E matches against Andorra on Oct. 7 and England on Oct. 11, although Srna is doubtful due to an ankle injury.

Berbatov: Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov has suffered an injury setback and is highly unlikely to play against the Netherlands and Luxembourg in his country's Euro 2008 qualifiers next month. Berbatov, 25, has aggravated a groin injury in training which might now need surgery to cure.

Liverpool: Liverpool are taking legal advice over allegations of impropriety made in the BBC television programme Panorama. "We have taken legal advice because we were surprised," manager Rafael Benitez said. Liverpool's Academy staff were shown talking to soccer agent Peter Harrison about the future of young Middlesbrough player Nathan Porritt.
