Moratti: Inter owner Massimo Moratti is to return to his role as president of the club, replacing the late Giacinto Facchetti. Moratti, whose father Angelo was president of the club during their years of success in the 1960's, took over as president in 1995 and remained in the role until he handed over to Facchetti in 2004. Although Facchetti took day-to-day control of the club's affairs Moratti continued to have a huge influence as the club's owner.

Celtic injuries: An injury crisis has forced Celtic manager Gordon Strachan to delay naming his team for today's league clash with Motherwell. Strachan is grappling with a defensive headache with Paul Telfer and Lee Naylor battling to be fit while Mark Wilson is out long term with a broken ankle. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Thomas Gravesen and Craig Beattie are still injured but Aiden McGeady returns.

Scholes: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson paid tribute to Paul Scholes yesterday as the midfielder prepares to join an elite band of players to make 500 appearances for the club. Scholes, 31, will reach the landmark in tomorrow's game against fierce local rivals Liverpool. "To reach 500 games and be only the ninth person in our history to do that is terrific," Ferguson said. "We are very fortunate that we have three great servants to our club in Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes."

Cisse: France striker Djibril Cisse trained with Olympique Marseille for the first time yesterday after recovering from a broken leg, the Ligue 1 club said. The forward trained for around an hour but hardly touched the ball and the club said he still needed time before making a playing return.

West Ham: West Ham are involved in serious negotiations about moving into the Olympic stadium after the 2012 London Games, sports minister Richard Caborn said. The Premier League club have been linked with a potential move to the stadium in nearby Stratford, east London which would end their association with Upton Park, their home for more than a century.

Flasher to receive summons: A Bayer Leverkusen fan who goaded rival supporters by flashing his bum repeatedly during his team's UEFA Cup tie at Club Bruges on Thursday faces court action, a Belgian public prosecutor said. The fan, who has not been named and was not arrested on the night of the match, will be questioned by German police and will receive a summons from a court in Bruges, prosecutor Yves Segaert said. If convicted, the German man faces a fine and a ban from the stadium.
