Tough boss: Dynamo Kiev president Ihor Surkis yesterday warned the club's foreign players that they had to start performing or would soon be looking for other jobs after the team's poor start to their Champions League campaign. However, Surkis said he remained confident coach Anatoly Demyanenko could turn his team's fortunes around despite losing their first three Group E games to Steaua Bucharest, Real Madrid and Lyon after being outscored 12 goals to 2.

Dundee United: Former Hearts and Leicester City coach Craig Levein was appointed manager of Scottish Premier League strugglers Dundee United yesterday. Levein, 42, replaces player manager Craig Brewster who was axed on Sunday following a dismal time in charge with just two wins from United's last 28 league matches. Levein, a former Scotland defender, had been manager of third division Raith Rovers on a non-contract basis this season after he was sacked by Leicester last season.

Cassano: Real Madrid striker Antonio Cassano has been suspended from training after an incident following the Primera Liga match against Gimnastic in Tarragona on Saturday. Real said Cassano, who spent the game on the bench, had shown a lack of respect for coach Fabio Capello after the game but gave no details of the incident. Spanish newspapers said Cassano had confronted Capello, demanding to be a first-choice player. The Italian has started few games this season.

Tampere United: Tampere United won the Finnish soccer championship for the second time with a 3-0 victory over HJK of Helsinki on Sunday. HJK finished second and Valkeakosken Haka occupied third spot after the final round of the main Veikkausliiga league. FC Honka of Espoo were fourth in their first season in the top flight.

Great Mourinho: Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has praised the ability of Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho for successfully changing the London side's style of play. "Mourinho has done great work to change tactics but stay successful," Rijkaard said. "Mourinho follows his personality, staying close to his own way. He chooses that and he has been very successful with it. I can only have respect for that."

Levski Sofia: Levski Sofia goalkeeper Georgi Petkov and striker Valeri Domovchiyski will miss today's Champions League match against Werder Bremen due to injuries. The 30-year-old Petkov is struggling with a finger injury while Bulgaria U-21 international Domovchiyski has not recovered from the groin injury he picked up in Levski's 1-1 draw at Cherno More Varna in the domestic league on Friday.
