Chelsea: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will rest left back Ashley Cole and midfielder Claude Makelele for tomorrow's Champions League game against Levski Sofia. Wayne Bridge will start instead of Cole for the match at Stamford Bridge. "I played Makelele consecutively against Manchester United and Bolton and then I gave him four days holiday so he is not playing against Levski," Mourinho said. Chelsea lead Group A with 10 points from five games, level on points with second-placed Werder Bremen. Levski are bottom of the group after five defeats.

Henry: Injured Arsenal captain Thierry Henry may not be ready to face champions Chelsea next weekend and says he has struggled for fitness all season. Henry missed his side's 3-0 home league win over rivals Tottenham on Saturday because of a nagging neck injury. "I have to rest," Henry told BBC Sport. "If that includes Chelsea...I hope it is going to stop there. It might go further but I have been saying since the start of the season I'm nowhere (near) fully fit and I came back into the team trying to help."

In Germany: Schalke 04 failed to reclaim first place in the Bundesliga when they were held to a goalless draw at Nuremberg yesterday. Kevin Kuranyi missed a glorious chance to put Schalke ahead in the 10th minute when he put a header wide from a few metres out and the visitors went on to miss several more opportunities. Schalke are second in the table with 30 points from 15 matches, behind Werder Bremen on goal difference. In yesterday's other game, Eintracht Frankfurt won 3-2 at Alemannia Aachen thanks to a hat-trick from Japan striker Naohiro Takahara.

Acosta: Nelson Acosta is set to continue as Chile coach despite announcing his resignation last month, his representative said yesterday. The new president of the Chilean federation, Harold Mayne-Nicholls, also said that Acosta was set to continue. Uruguayan-born Acosta coached Chile from 1996-2001, which included their appearance at the 1998 World Cup finals, and again from 2005. He announced his resignation before last month's 3-2 friendly win at home to Paraguay.
