Senderos: Fulham signed Switzerland defender Philippe Senderos from Arsenal on a free transfer yesterday. Senderos had fallen out of favour with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after some erratic displays for the Gunners and had spent much of the last two seasons on loan at Milan and then at Everton.

Celtic: Celtic will face Sporting Lisbon in a pre-season exhibition match at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, on July 21. The 'Fenway Football Challenge' will be the first football match played at the venue since July 9, 1968 when Pele lined up for Santos against the Boston Beacons.

Briand: French international striker Jimmy Briand is set to leave Rennes and sign a four-year contract with Lyon, according to the buying club's president Jean-Michel Aulas. "We can say with absolute certainty that Jimmy Briand will be coming to Lyon on June 15. So we have already made a deal with him," said Aulas. The 24-year-old Briand has played three times for France.

Taddei: Roma midfielder Rodrigo Taddei, linked with a move to Fiorentina this summer, has instead extended his contract with the club. Roma released a statement yesterday confirming that Taddei, 30, had agreed to extend his contract until 2014. He will earn €2.8m a year over the next three seasons.

Kenny: QPR have signed goalkeeper Paddy Kenny on a three-year deal from Sheffield United. The 32-year-old will be reunited with former Blades manager Neil Warnock for the third time after the Londoners lodged a successful £750,000 bid. Kenny returned to action for the Blades from a nine-month suspension for testing positive for the banned substance ephedrine in May 2009.

Cycling: Cervelo Test team said that a decision on whether Carlos Sastre races in this year's Tour de France will be made this week. The 35-year-old Spaniard had looked to be a certain starter but a statement yesterday cast doubt as to whether he would be selected for the July 3-25 race. Sastre was not planning to race the Tour, having just completed a near disastrous Giro d'Italia. He suffered three crashes before finishing in eighth place overall.

Olympics: IOC president Jacques Rogge has presented an Olympic gold medal to a Belgian cyclist 62 years after he won it. Eugene Van Roosbroeck, 82, and his two team-mates - 81-year-old Lode Wouters and the late Leon De Lathouwer - were unaware they had won the team cycle race at the 1948 Olympics in London. The trio simply got on the bus after the 194 kilometres ride as Van Roosbroeck said they weren't aware that medals were awarded for the event.

Doping: Floyd Landis, who last month admitted doping throughout his cycling career and accused Lance Armstrong and others, has hired a law firm that once represented US cyclist Greg LeMond. Landis, formerly of US Postal and Phonak, caused a sensation last month when he admitted to systematic doping prior to being stripped of his Tour de France crown in 2006. According to reports, a team of lawyers from the firm will advise Landis in the event he faces a criminal case or defamation lawsuit.

Tennis: Laura Robson was handed a wild card into the Wimbledon draw but British men's number two Alex Bogdanovic missed out.
