Rangnick: Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick has extended his current deal with the Bundesliga club by a further two years to 2012. Rangnick took over at the south-western club in 2006 when Hoffenheim were in the third division and led the team to an 11th-place finish in the league this season.

Dochev: Former CSKA Sofia defender Pavel Dochev became the team's fourth coach this season after he was appointed by the Bulgarian first division club yesterday. Dochev is currently coaching German second division club Paderborn, but said he would take over at CSKA when his contract ends on June 30.

Terry: Chelsea captain John Terry returned to training yesterday following an injury scare that briefly threatened his participation in the FA Cup final against Portsmouth tomorrow. Terry hurt his right foot in a training ground challenge with Daniel Sturridge on Wednesday, but scans showed there was no break.

Langerak: Melbourne Victory said they had agreed to sell first-choice goalkeeper Mitch Langerak to Borussia Dortmund, subject to medical tests. Football operations manager Gary Cole said Langerak, 21, has been at the club since 2007, when he joined as a junior.

Topal: Valencia have reached an agreement to sign Turkey international Mehmet Topal from Galatasaray. The transfer is dependent on the 24-year-old midfielder passing a medical with the Spanish outfit.

Athletics: Controversial track coach Charlie Francis, who coached disgraced Canadian sprint champion Ben Johnson, died on Wednesday. He was 61. Francis died at Sunnybrook Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer. Francis was Johnson's coach when he became the first athlete to be stripped of an Olympic gold medal for using performance-enhancing drugs.

Tennis: Ukrainian Kristina Antoniychuk has been handed a 14-month doping ban after testing positive for the banned diuretic furosemide. The 19-year-old, ranked 182nd in the world, will be sidelined until April 22, 2011 following her positive doping test on February 22 in Acapulco.

Golf: South Africa's Ernie Els, who has won twice this season, headlines the Texas Open which begins today at Oaks Course. PGA earnings and FedEx Cup points leader Els is trying to rebound from missing the cut at last week's Players Championship. The field also includes 11 competitors who have won a total of 17 majors.

Racing: Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver will be seeking to keep his Triple Crown hopes alive when he comes out of the eighth gate at the 135th Preakness Stakes tomorrow. Third place Derby finisher Paddy O'Prado will start from the 10th gate. Derby runner-up Ice Box is skipping the Preakness.

Diamond League: Kenyan runners Micah Kogo, Bernard Kiplagat and Moses Masai have pulled out of the opening leg of the 14-event Diamond League series in Doha following a car accident. The middle distance specialists were on their way to Nairobi when they were involved in a crash that left them with light bruising but otherwise unhurt, their agent Ricky Simms said.
