Bogdanovic: Malta striker Daniel Bogdanovic was on the mark for Barnsley as the Tykes held Crystal Palace 1-1 in a Championship match at Selhurst Park, yesterday. Bogdanovic put his team in front on 19 minutes after the hosts had a Darren Ambrose penalty going wide after only three minutes. Bogdanovic was replaced by Iain Hume on 50 minutes and Crystal Palace equalised soon after with a Victor Moses goal.

Juve deny: Juventus have denied reports they have approached Guus Hiddink as a possible replacement for coach Ciro Ferrara. A statement read: "Juventus denies reports coming from England of a possible interest for Guus Hiddink. The club has never considered any other coach because Ciro Ferrara has our full backing and is at the centre of our sporting project."

Davies: Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies has been given the go-ahead to resume training after three months on the sidelines following shoulder surgery. The former England U-21 player went under the knife in mid-September after his shoulder popped out of its socket three times in the space of a month.

Antic: Serbia coach Radomir Antic has extended his contract with the Serbian Football Federation until 2012, to lead the national squad to the 2012 European Championships. "This is a sign of great trust and I hope that both myself and the players I lead will live up to it," Antic said.

Zabaleta: Manchester City's Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract. Zabaleta, who could play for Argentina at next year's World Cup in South Africa, arrived at City from La Liga club Espanyol in 2008.

Sharonov: Rubin Kazan defender Roman Sharonov will be out of action for at least six months after undergoing knee surgery in Germany. Russian champions Rubin were drawn against Israel's Hapoel Tel Aviv in the last 32 of the Europa League on Friday after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Barcelona and Inter.

Basket, NBA: Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings has been fined $7,500 for posting a message on his Twitter account immediately after a game. A message was posted on Jennings's Twitter account following the Bucks's 108-101 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers a few days back. NBA rules state that all game-related activities, like post-game interviews, must be completed before players can post messages on their Twitter accounts.

Motor racing: The bodies of two men believed to have been climbing companions of former Japanese Formula One driver Ukyo Katayama have been found on Mount Fuji. Japanese media reported the bodies were discovered by a police rescue team yesterday, a day after Katayama was picked up after making an emergency call.

Asian games: Malaysia is considering bidding for the 2019 Asian Games after twice being rejected for the region's biggest multi-sports event. The country's Youth and Sports Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek told local media that Kuala Lumpur also wanted to stage the 2013 IOC Congress. The Chinese city of Guangzhou will host next year's Asian Games while South Korea's Incheon stages the event in 2014. The first Asian Games were held in New Delhi in 1951.

Boxing: Japan's world flyweight champion Koki Kameda has announced a seven-year "sayonara" plan to end his explosive career at 30 after dominating a third weight division. The eldest of Japan's controversial "brat pack" trio of sibling boxers, Kameda won the WBC belt last month, three years after winning the WBA light flyweight crown. "After defending my title two or three times I'll step up to super flyweight," the 23-year-old said. "Once I have won that world title I'll say 'sayonara' at 30."

Rugby Union: France scrumhalf Julien Dupuy was handed a six-month ban by the European Rugby Cup (ERC) for gouging in a Heineken Cup match between his Stade Francais side and Ulster last week. The Frenchman had been cited for gouging flanker Stephen Ferris's eyes in an ill-tempered game won 23-13 by Ulster at Ravenhill, Belfast. Dupuy, 26, will be out until June 3 next year which rules him out of the annual Six Nations championship and effectively means his season is over.
