Tear gas: Tear gas fired by police at rioting protesters outside the Olympic Stadium caused a 25-minute interruption during Panathinaikos's 3-1 win over Atromitos in the Greek Super League yesterday. As people clashed in Athens during a march to mark the first anniversary of the police shooting dead a teenager, officials at the match ordered the two teams to leave the pitch after tear gas to disperse the protesters drifted into the ground.

Henry: Thierry Henry should not solely be blamed for his part in the controversial goal that sent France to the 2010 World Cup finals, Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi said. "I think Thierry did what he had to do, he apologised," the Argentina forward said. "I also believe that it was just an incident during a game of football, the referee didn't see it, the linesman didn't see it."

Advocaat: Belgium coach Dick Advocaat will decide today whether to take over at AZ Alkmaar after the Dutch champions sacked coach Ronald Koeman over the weekend. Belgian television reported that Advocaat would replace his fellow Dutchman at Alkmaar for the rest of the season while continuing with his national team job.

Hockey: Australia won a record 10th men's Champions Trophy hockey title after they fought back to beat Olympic and World champions Germany 5-3 yesterday. Australia struck three times in the opening 15 minutes of the second half through Liam de Young and Luke Doerner (twice).

Basket, NBA: The Chicago Bulls slumped to their worst shooting performance of the season as the visiting Toronto Raptors cruised to a 110-78 victory. Chris Bosh scored 25 points for the Raptors, who jumped out to a 37-16 first quarter lead to set the tone of the game.

Golf: Teenager Ryo Ishikawa became the youngest winner of the Japanese Tour's money list after finishing tied 19th in the season-ending JT Cup yesterday. The 18-year-old finished the 27-man tournament on three-over-par 283, four ahead of his only rival for the money list title Yuta Ikeda. Ishikawa finished the season with earnings of $2.03 million.
