Neuer: Talented Schalke 04 keeper Manuel Neuer will win his first international cap today when he starts in Germany's friendly match against the United Arab Emirates, coach Joachim Loew said. Loew has still to pick his first choice keeper one year before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with Hanover's Robert Enke, Rene Adler from Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen's Tim Wiese and 23-year-old Neuer in the running for the spot.

Panathinaikos: Panathinaikos secured a place in next season's Champions League after defeating city rivals AEK Athens 2-0 in the final game of the Greek Super League play-offs. Henk Ten Cate's team clinched victory at the Olympic Stadium courtesy of goals from Giorgos Karagounis and Ante Rukavina, which ensured they topped the play-off mini-league by six points ahead of AEK. Panathinaikos join Greek champions Olympiakos Pireaus in the draw for the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Tapia: Antonio Tapia quit as Malaga coach after leading the club to eighth place in the Primera Liga. "I will not be the coach of the team next season," Tapia said. "We have had a great campaign."

Rocha: Portuguese defender Ricardo Rocha has been released by Tottenham. Rocha, who has six caps for his country, made 18 appearances for the north London club since joining from Benfica in 2007.

Henry: Thierry Henry has been ruled out of France's two friendlies against Nigeria and Turkey this week because of a sore knee. No replacement has been named for the 31-year-old Barcelona forward.

Tennis: Australia's former Davis Cup stalwart Mark Philippoussis is in dire financial straits and being sued for defaulting on loan payments for his house, the former top 10 tennis player said. The 32-year-old US Open and Wimbledon finalist, famous for a string of celebrity girlfriends, said he was in the "toughest time" of his life, with a finance company seeking $1.3 million and possession of the Melbourne house.

Golf: Journeyman Christian Cevaer capped a special week for French golf by seizing an unlikely victory at the European Open on Sunday. Cevaer, who went into the tournament ranked 449th in the world, soared to 129th after winning by one stroke from British pair Steve Webster and Gary Orr and Spain's Alvaro Quiros at the London Club in Kent.

Rugby Union: Italy coach Nick Mallett will be unable to call on prop Martin Castrogiovanni and flyhalf Andrea Marcato for June's tour of Australia and New Zealand because of injuries, the Italian rugby federation said. Scrumhalf Simon Picone has also pulled out for personal reasons of the squad for two matches against the Wallabies on June 13 and 20 and a test against the All Blacks in Christchurch.

Winter Games: Organisers of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver have rejected the idea of raising ticket prices, despite strong demand in both Canada and abroad. The Vancouver Organising Committee launches a second round of domestic ticket sales on Saturday, with more than 150,000 available for competitions as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.
