Tottenham: Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Spartak Moscow for the transfer of Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, the Premier League club said yesterday. No details of the deal were given. The 26-year-old has scored nine goals in 22 internationals, including three in the European Championship. His arrival could pave the way for unsettled Bulgarian forward Dimitar Berbatov to leave the London club.

Superleague: Superleague Formula, a new series involving leading soccer clubs, has been launched at British track Donington Park with organisers hoping to appeal to fans of both sports. Ozat recovers: Turkey's Umit Ozat was released from hospital after collapsing during Cologne's Bundesliga game away to Karlsruhe on Friday night. The match, which Cologne won 2-0, was held up for a few minutes in the first half following Umit's worrying collapse off the ball.

Trezeguet: French striker David Trezeguet will miss Juventus's Serie A opener at Fiorentina today because of a knee problem. Juventus already have to do without Cristiano Zanetti, Marco Marchionni, Giorgio Chiellini and the suspended Mohamed Sissoko.

FC Zurich: FC Zurich president Ancillo Canepa described the club's UEFA Cup first-round tie as "difficult but financially interesting" after they were drawn against Milan on Friday. "It feels like we've got a foot in the Champions League," he said. "It is good for our young players to be able to measure themselves against one of the best squads."
