D'Alessandro: Former VfL Wolfsburg and Real Zaragoza midfielder Andres D'Alessandro has been recalled by Argentina for next month's 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru. D'Alessandro, now playing for Internacional in Brazil having joined them from Argentine club San Lorenzo last month, is back after a three-year absence. He last played for Argentina in a 2006 World Cup qualifier away to Paraguay in 2005.

Bianchi: Torino have signed Manchester City striker Rolando Bianchi, the Serie A side said yesterday. A statement on the club's website said the Italian had penned a five-year deal. No details of the transfer fee were given. Bianchi, 25, signed for the English Premier League side from Italy's Reggina before the start of last season but was loaned to Lazio for the second half of the campaign after failing to settle.

Racism ban: Hungarian club Budapest Honved have been ordered to play their next European club match behind closed doors following racist conduct by their supporters and the displaying of an illicit banner during an Intertoto Cup match. UEFA said on Friday the club had been given a total of two matches behind closed doors for the events during the July game against Austrian side Sturm Graz, but that the second match would be suspended for a five-year probationary period.

Kone: Sevilla will not sign a replacement for Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone who tore his cruciate ligament in a friendly against Guinea on Wednesday. "We have enough players to cover the loss of Kone and we aren't going to sign anyone. The squad is complete," Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido told reporters.
