Ronaldinho: Ronaldinho rejoined team training with Barcelona yesterday after two weeks out while he followed a programme to deal with muscle pain. Portugal midfielder Deco, who has been taking part in team training since Sunday, also appears to be poised for a return to action after almost a month out with a muscle injury.

Porto: Porto have extended coach Jesualdo Ferreira's contract by one season until June 2009. Last year, Ferreira steered the club to their second successive title in his first season in charge. This year, with six matches left, the northern club are one win away from their third in a row.

Lippi: Marcello Lippi said if he returned to club management he would not mind which country he worked in. "I miss the relationship with people to work together to reach an objective. If an offer of such type arrives I will take it, if not we will wait," Lippi told reporters on the sidelines of a sports shoe launch in Milan yesterday. "It is not a problem of nationality."

Awards: Milan's Carlo Ancelotti and Kaka were given the International Federation of Football History and Statistics' club coach of the year and playmaker of the year awards for 2007 respectively, the club said.

Tight security: Some 550 policemen will be on duty for Saturday's Bulgarian Premier League clash between Botev Plovdiv and their bitter local rivals Lokomotiv. Matches between the two have been highly-charged affairs in recent years. Lokomotiv Plovdiv have been ordered to play four home matches in total behind closed doors this season following crowd trouble while Botev also have a long history of fan violence.

Reggina: Prosecutors in the southern Italian city of Reggio Calabria have opened an investigation into allegations that Serie A strugglers Reggina have been singled out for unfair treatment by some referees this season.
