Davies: Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies will be out for several months after having surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon. Davies, who was named in Fabio Capello's preliminary England squad for the friendly against Switzerland last month, was injured in the 1-1 draw at leaders Arsenal on Saturday. "The surgeon said the operation went well," Davies told the club's website. "There's a bit of soreness there but I'll just have to rest it and let everything settle down."

Totti: Roma captain Francesco Totti has been charged with expressing "judgements aimed at disputing the regularity of the championship", the Italian Soccer Federation said. The striker criticised Serie A referees after team mate Philippe Mexes was controversially sent off in last week's 1-1 draw at leaders Inter.

Docked points: Portuguese Premier League club Belenenses have been docked six points for fielding an ineligible player. The club were punished for playing Cameroon international Albert Meyong in their 2-1 win over Naval on Jan. 13 after the striker had already played for two other teams this season. The disciplinary body awarded the three points for victory to Naval and punished the Lisbon side with a further three point deduction.

Irureta: Javier Irureta handed in his resignation as Real Zaragoza coach yesterday after a 2-1 defeat at bottom club Levante left them closer to the relegation zone. Zaragoza's fourth straight loss in the Primera Liga on Sunday left them 17th in the table and just goal difference above the drop zone.

In England: League One - Nottingham Forest vs Carlisle 0-1.

MFA Division Three: Zebbug Rangers vs Ghaxaq 4-1; Gudja United vs Luqa St Andrews 4-1.
