Roma: Roma have signed Brazil defender Juan from Bayer Leverkusen, the Serie A runners-up said yesterday. Juan, currently preparing for the Copa America with Brazil, has cost 6.3 million euros ($8.44 million) and has signed a four-year contract. The purchase of Juan will increase speculation about the future of Roma's centre back Cristian Chivu. Inter have are interested in the player but Roma are not ready to negotiate.

Alves: Sevilla defender Daniel Alves can play in the King's Cup final against Getafe tomorrow after being given permission to return from Brazil's Copa America training camp. The 23-year-old, one of Sevilla's most influential players this season, trained with his club mates yesterday.

Guardiola: Former Barcelona captain Pep Guardiola has been appointed coach of the club's reserve team. Barcelona B were relegated to the fourth division ("Tercera") last season.

Baraja: Valencia's Spain midfielders Ruben Baraja and David Silva have extended their contracts, the Primera Liga club said. The highly rated 21-year-old Silva extended his deal until 2013, while Baraja will remain at the club until 2010.

O'Connor: Scotland striker Garry O'Connor is ready to leave Russian top-flight side Lokomotiv Moscow and join promoted English Premier League side Birmingham City in the summer. "I hope so," he told Russian media, referring to a possible move to the Midlands club, after Lokomotiv lost 1-0 to Amkar Perm in a Russian league match.

Givet: France defender Gael Givet was expected to join Olympique Marseille from Ligue 1 rivals Monaco. Marseille chairman Pape Diouf said that the two clubs reached an agreement yesterday.
