Kapo: Everton and Birmingham are eyeing up Olivier Kapo after the Juventus midfielder admitted he wants a move to the Premier League this summer. The Frenchman spent last season on loan in Spain with Levante. Kapo has hinted he would prefer a switch to England. "At the moment, I am only thinking of my holidays and it will be Juventus that decides my future," Kapo said. "The Premier League is enormously attractive for any player. For me it would be excellent... but I repeat that it does not just depend on me."

Smith: Portsmouth are the latest club to be linked with Manchester United's Alan Smith. Newcastle are believed to be leading the race for the £3.5 million-rated England striker, but Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Tottenham are also keen on the 26-year-old. Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp said: "Alan Smith is fantastic value at the money United are talking about. There is no gamble there."

Tomasson: Jon Dahl Tomasson has revealed that four clubs are pursuing his services. The experienced striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal, from Stuttgart. Tomasson is unlikely to return to Germany having failed to settle in the country. "I have got offers from four different clubs," the Denmark captain said. "Olympiakos and Villarreal are two of them, but I haven't decided yet."

Aquilani: Arsenal could be tempted to bid for Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani after leaving a good impression in the UEFA U-21 Championship. He was Italy's joint top scorer with two goals in the tournament in Holland and among the most exciting players. British newspapers reported yesterday that Gilles Grimandi was watching Aquilani for Arsenal during the win over Portugal in the Olympic play-off. Aquilani has only ever spent one year away from Roma. He played for Serie B outfit Triestina in 2003-04.

Milito: Juventus are likely to tell Zaragoza today they won't enter a bidding war with Real Madrid over Argentine defender Gabriel Milito who was on the verge of completing his transfer to Turin last week. Real Madrid have reportedly intercepted negotiations to make an offer of their own, leading Zaragoza to pit the clubs against each other for a £13.4m price-tag. Juve director of sport Alessio Secco is in Spain and newspaper Tuttosport suggested he will set an ultimatum for Zaragoza.

Gold cup: Final - United States vs Mexico 2-1.
